About the course

Content Design and Service Design are intrinsically connected. Without content, there is no service.

In this course you will learn the essentials of Service Design, Design Research and Content Design and get to work on a Public Service design challenge remotely with your team. You will also learn and work with raw data-sets, journey maps, personas, system maps and also gain a better understanding of how to work as an effective cohort inside your organisation to deliver more considered services.

This course has been designed to give optimal value to people working in areas of product design, user-interface design and business analyst roles looking to get more hands on experience in conducting research, forming insights to help improve and bringing them into the working environment.

About your trainers

Sarah Winters

Founder of the content design movement, Sarah pioneered the standards during her 10-year career with the UK government. As Head of content design for the Government Digital Service (GDS), Sarah created and implemented the content strategy for the GOV.UK website. After leaving GDS, Sarah took her knowledge and wrote the respected and highly popular Content Design – a book for anyone creating user-centred content.

Gerry Scullion

CEO & Co-Founder of This is Doing and also Founder of This is HCD - The Human Centered Design Network. Gerry has deep service design and design research expertise and has worked with large global organisations, local Governments and Councils in Australia and in Europe, Financial Services, Healthcare to help them both embed design into their organisation and also design better services.

He has contributed to the book ‘This is Service Design Doing’ (O’Reilly 2018 - Stickdorn, Hormess, Lawrence, Schneider) focusing on chapters about 'Effective prototyping', and 'Embedding Service Design teams within organisations' alongside 200 service designers from around the globe.
